Training course overview

The training course will be conducted by an experienced and Kilgray approved trainer, who is also a freelance translator. The course will be suitable for new users of MemoQ.

When and where is the MemoQ training?

The MemoQ training course will be held at the ITI offices in Milton Keynes. Address, location details and directions can be found at the ITI web site. There will be 2 dates with a maximum of 12 delegates on each date.

The training dates are yet to be announced.

Each course will start at 09.30 am and finish at 16.30 pm.

"I was introduced to MemoQ in July 2007. I had already had a brief flirtation with Trados a few years ago which had really put me off CAT tools because I found it hard to get into. I'm not the most confident IT user although not a complete novice but I was looking for a tool where I could be up and running within a couple of hours without the need for extensive, time-consuming and expensive training courses. I printed off the quick start-up manual, followed the instructions and I really was up and running within a couple of hours. The first job I used it for was a Microsoft Excel file - usually the bane of my life - and it was so easy. On export it looked just like the original with none of the fiddly jumping from cell to cell. PowerPoint files worked beautifully too and required very little post-editing.
Now I wonder what I did before discovering MemoQ. I was so impressed that I bought the licence within a month of downloading the trial and I haven't looked back. I probably don't use half the features although that's true of most software but MemoQ does just what I want and as I build up the memory and the on-the-fly glossaries it is becoming more and more useful. Discovering concordance was great as you can look at the same term in different contexts.
MemoQ is a great aide-memoire (especially when you know you've had something before but you just can't remember where), a real boon for consistency and fantastic for people like me who are lazy when it comes to making glossaries. I love the uncluttered user interface, its ease of use and the fabulous support provided by the Kilgray team through the yahoo user group. I've been impressed with everything about it and feel it's the best and most cost-effective investment I've made in a long time. I still think that if I can use it, anyone can so it's an ideal tool for those entering the CAT market who have been afraid to take the plunge so far."
